Amber Aileen Mitchell, 26, of West Frankfort, formerly of Herrin, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident early Saturday morning, Dec. 30, 2017 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.
Amber worked as a waitress at IHOP and Buffalo Wild Wings in Marion.
She had recently enrolled at John A. Logan College in Carterville, was a Rend Lake Girl; formerly was a member of the Girl Scout Shagbark Council in Mt. Vernon.
Amber was a member of the First Baptist Church in Energy.
Amber was born October 9, 1991 in Chicago, IL. She was adopted when she was 4 days old by Mark W. and Susan Lee (Clark) Mitchell.
She was the proud mother of, Adrianna Simelton, her daughter who was the light of her life; son, Noah Mitchell; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mark W., II and Robin Mitchell of West City, Scott Allen Mitchell of Louisville, KY; nephew, Joshua Rathbun; niece, Kaitlin Mitchell; several aunts, uncles and cousins and Kathy Solomon of Carterville who was like a second mother to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Skylar Rathbun.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Amber for her daughter, Adrianna to be used for future educational expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
