Obituary for Judith Louise Mason

Judy L. Mason, 71, of Herrin, died 8:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

Judy retired from Herrin Hospital where she worked as a ward clerk for 17 years.

Judy was born February 28, 1946 in Chicago, IL.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Gollhuir of Carterville; two grandchildren, Kendra (Mark) Steinmetz of Herrin, Gage (Shelby) Gollhuir of Herrin; three great grandchildren, Liam Steinmetz of Herrin, Addilynn Gollhuir of Herrin, Madyson Gollhuir of Herrin and a great granddaughter due May 15, 2018; sister-in-law, Josephine Lucas of Florida; several nieces and nephews and her constant canine companion, T-Bone.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Alex Garvish; parents; two brothers, Richard “Dick” Lucas and John W. Lucas.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Danny Norman and Bro. Barry Barker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.

Memorial donations are suggested and may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, IL 62959; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
