Obituary for Roy Anderson

Carterville – Roy S. Anderson, 74, passed away 05:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 in the Community Living Center at the Marion Veterans Affairs Hospital.
Roy was born January 25, 1943 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Jacob and Lena (Krebs) Anderson.
Roy was a former pipe fitter and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 119 in Mobile, AL. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Vietnam.
Roy married Delores Mezo on December 13, 1998 at Land Between the Lakes, Kentucky.
Surviving are his wife, Delores Anderson of Carterville; 2 sons, Roy F. Anderson of Carterville and Curtis A. (Lisa) Anderson of Gautier, MS; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson, Heather Anderson, Curtis Anderson, and Briana Swafford; 5 five great grandchildren; step-son, F.L. (Dorothy) Mezo of Edwardsville, IL; step-grandchildren, Joseph Mezo and Maria Mezo; brother, Buck Anderson of Barstow, CA; sister, Sue (Kenny) Hatten of Petal, MS; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Anderson.
A memorial service with military rites conducted by the Herrin American Legion and V. F. W. Post will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested and may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
