Betty Louise Murrie, 86, of Vienna, passed away 8:46 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Simpson, IL with Dr. James Gilbert and Rev. John Lovelace officiating. Interment will be in Gilead Cemetery at Simpson, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 Tuesday at the church. The preferred form of remembrance is memorial donations made to Memphis Theological Seminary, 168 East Parkway, South Memphis, TN 38104, envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
Mrs. Murrie was a homemaker and formerly worked as a secretary for the Jack Williamson Law Firm in Vienna. She also formerly worked served as the Secretary and Treasurer for the Southern Region of the IL and EMI Presbytery.
Betty was a member of the Highland Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lone Oak, KY. She was also a graduate of the Middletown OH Business College and worked at Bethel College in McKenzie, TN.
She was born June 27, 1922 in Middletown, OH to John Walker and Frances (Williams) McCoy.
Betty was united in marriage with Rev. Willard M. Murrie on December 28, 1943 in Middletown, OH. He survives of Vienna.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Willard Murrie of Vienna; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rinda Jean and Ronald Tuck of Sebastian, FL, Carol Ann and Michael Money of Winchester, TN, Alisa Karen and Keith Waddell of Simpson, IL; seven grandchildren, Russell (Pauline) Tuck, Robyn Tuck, Michael (Paula) Money, Jr., Daniel K. (Jennifer) Money, Joy Anna (Jeremy) Burris, Molly Grace (John) Matthews and Adam Keith (Karen)Waddell; four great grandchildren, Abigayle Grace Money, Haley Grace Matthews, Faith Leann Matthews, Jeremiah Ray Tuck, Jett Michael Burris and a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and John Barclay of Grafton, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
