Robert D. VanGorder, 61, of Olney, IL, died 10:43 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at his father's residence in Carterville, IL.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Rev. Ed Hoke will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Carterville Public Library Fund, 117 South Division St., Carterville, IL, 62918.
Mr. VanGorder was retired from the IL Dept. of Unemployment Security Office in Effingham, IL. He formerly worked for the Dept. of Unemployment Security Office in Olney and taught at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for two years.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was born August 26, 1947 in Mankato, MN to Robert R. and Katherine B. (Turney) VanGorder.
Surviving are his father, Robert R. VanGorder of Carterville; Aunt and Uncle, Dorothy and Art Hotvedt of Eau Claire, WI and a special friend, Mary Jane Hanes of Olney.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
