John L. Lyerla, 89, of Energy, passed away 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at his residence.
In following with John's wishes, private family services will be at Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion. There will be no public visitation or services.
Mr. Lyerla formerly owned and operated the Lyerla Body Shop in Herrin for many years.
He was a member of the Herrin Elks, Baker-Ladd V. F. W. Post # 1567 in Herrin and a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II.
He was born December 14, 1919 in Stonefort, IL to A. C. and Cecil (Heck) Lyerla.
John was united in marriage with Helen Deloris King on November 28, 1946 in Herrin, IL. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2008.
Surviving are, a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tony Ronzio of Beecher, IL and two grandsons, Jimmie L. White of Lansing, IL and John F. (Debbie) White of Thornton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, Edna Elliott, Virginia Babcock and an infant brother.
