Hester E. Satterfield, 88, of Herrin, passed away 7:40 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. John Standard will officiate. Entombment will be in Herrin City Cemetery at Herrin. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Hester formerly worked as a customer sales clerk at Don's Jewelry in Herrin.
Hester was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herrin. She loved gardening, collecting and refurbishing antiques.
She was born March 2, 1921 in Herrin, IL to Fred and Edna (Shadowens) Ridgway.
Hester was united in marriage with Clarence L. Satterfield on August 4, 1940 in St. Genevieve, MO. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2005.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Karen Satterfield of St. Charles, MO, Joel and Sheryl Satterfield of Springfield, IL; daughter-in-law, Kendra Satterfield of St. Charles, MO; four grandchildren, Christine Keller, Laura Miller, Terri Henderson and Andrew Satterfield; eight great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Jim Satterfield, parents, two brothers, Hershel and Grover Ridgway and one sister, Joann Seeley.
