Leonard Talluto, 96, of Herrin, died 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Deacon Joseph Oganda will officiate. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
Mr. Talluto was a retired coal miner having last worked for Lake Creek Coal Company at Johnston City, IL.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, United Mine Workers of America and a veteran of the U. S. Army during the World War II.
He was born October 5, 1912 in Harrisburg, IL to Joseph and Mary (Spuigizza) Talluto.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Samples of North Richland Hills, TX; granddaughter, Gena Renee Jesse of Texas; one brother, Vincent Talluto of Freeman Spur; two sisters, Sera Rogers of Nashville, TN, Josephine Cotugno of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Dean Samples and his parents.
Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin.
