Kenneth T. Thompson, 47, of Herrin, passed away 3:25 p.m Tuesday, August 11,2009 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery at Herrin. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In keeping with Kenneth's profession as a landscaper, the family would prefer plants as a living remembrance of his life or memorial donations made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson owned and operated K & T Contracting in Herrin.
He was born January 2, 1962 in Abilene, KS to Alvin Thompson and Ruby (Jantz) Thompson Carpenter.
Kenneth was united in marriage with Debbie A. Leeper on June 24, 1999 in Paducah, KY.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie A. Thompson of Herrin; five sons, Philip J. Martin of Herrin, Anthony J. (Amanda LaBelle) Martin of Herrin, Eric T. Thompson of Abilene, KS, Jacob J. Martin of Herrin, Spencer J. Martin of Herrin; four daughters, Kristin (Joseph) L. Myers of Herrin, Elizabeth A. Thompson of Abilene, KS, Kayla R. Martin of Herrin, Kelly A. Martin of Herrin, three grandchildren, Alayna Marie Sheppard, Bronson Wayne Myers and Jaycie Lynne Martin; father and step-mother, Alvin and Linda Thompson of Hardin, KY; mother, Ruby Carpenter of Abilene, KS; five brothers, Donnie Thompson of Hardin, KY, Russ Thompson of Cunningham, KY, Kevin Thompson of Murray, KY, Joel Thompson of Murray, KY, Phillip Thompson of Solomon, KS; half brother, Darren Thompson of Benton, KY; half sister, Kim Tanner of Abilene, KS and several nieces and nephews.
