James U. Gibbs, 65, of Herrin, died 4:30 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at his residence.
In accordance to his wishe's, he will be cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, IL.
Mr. Gibbs was a former gas station manager in Poplar Bluff, MO and for Martin's Gas Station in Carterville.
He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy.
He was born October 31, 1943 in Carbondale, IL to John Gibbs and Mary Gibbs McCormick.
James was united in marriage with Brenda (Upchurch)Gibbs on May 26, 1999 in Marion, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Gibbs of Herrin and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
