Anthony Lee 'Tony' Payne, 29 of Herrin, died 4:44 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Herrin Hospital.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2009 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He owned and operated a lawn mowing service in Herrin, loved riding his bicycle around town and just plain 'loved life'.
He graduated from Marion High School in 1999, and attended the School for the Deaf in Marion since he was 2 years old. At an early age, he joined the Second Baptist Church in Herrin.
He was born November 13, 1979 in Herrin to Ronald L. and Diana J. (Cripps) Payne.
Tony was married to Candida Nicole 'Candi' Baker on August 2, 2003 in Carterville, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Candida N. Payne of Herrin; parents, Ronald 'Strawberry' and Diana Payne of Herrin; sister and brother-in-law, Samantha and Tony Davis of Herrin; grandmother, Barbara Cripps of Ferges; several nieces and nephews, whom he was very fond of, David, Hayden, Lynn, Dakota, Draven, Jackson and Katelyn; several aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved pet cat, 'Tator Tot'.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James R. Cripps and Clara and Robert Payne , great grandmother, Edna Dobbs, cousin, Kyle Cripps, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Holly Baker.
