Lucy Marie Murphy, 89, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Peoria, passed away, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Good Samaritan Health & Rehab in Antioch, TN.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, 4601 War Memorial Drive in Peoria, IL with Rev. Steve Hardin officiating.
Lucy was born August 21, 1920 in Sangamon Township in Piatt County, IL to Benjamin Franklin and Hattie Belle (Van Fleet) Hankinson.
She married Lowell C. 'Murph' Murphy on April 4, 1964 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death in November 1982. She is also preceded by her parents, three brothers, Oliver 'Hank' Hankinson, Robert Hankinson and one brother who died in infancy and by three grandchildren, Joseph Durbin II, Josephine Craggs and Anthony Warren.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Linda Warren of Paxton, IL and Jerry and Patty Warren of Smyrna, TN; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joan and Bob Durbin of Murphysboro, IL, Linda and Neal Yates of Champaign, IL, and Janet Reiter of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Charles David Warren, Lance Wade Warren, Timothy Roy Warren, Bradley Lee Warren, Faith Joan Purdue-Durbin, Lindy Sue Mansfield, Kimberly Sue Billman, Timothy Dean Curry, Jennifer Reiter, and Jackie Reiter; and one step grandchild, Megan Netherton and twenty great grandchildren.
Mrs. Murphy worked at WT Grant in Peoria, IL. She enjoyed crocheting and made many lap blankets for nursing home patients, enjoyed reading, watching John Wayne movies and especially loved reading her Bible.
