Robert E. Lence, 77 of Herrin, passed away 4:10 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services or visitation.
Mr. Lence was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator with the Operating Engineers Local Union # 318.
He formerly attended Radio Tabernacle Church in Herrin. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and a member of the Baker-Ladd V. F. W. Post # 1567 in Herrin.
Robert was born August 27, 1932 in Murphysboro, IL to Robert H. and Jessee Janice (Boucher) Lence.
Robert was united in marriage with Brenda L. McCormack on February 5, 1972 in Herrin, IL.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Brenda Lence of Herrin; seven children and their spouses, Jason and Jana Lence of Herrin, Cathy and Rick Reynolds of West Frankfort, Diane Odam and her friend, Jerry of West Frankfort, Steve Lence of Thompsonville, Kelly and Romie Restivo of Energy, Scott and Kelly Holland of Marion, Terrill Holland and friend, Jaclyn of Herrin; many grandchildren he dearly loved and enjoyed; three sister, Richadene and Gary Childers of Makanda, Sharon Wisely of Carbondale, Jo Ann Lence of Carbondale and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Terrill Holland, Jr. and an infant brother, Richard Lence.
