Obituary for Edna Mae Doyle

Edna Mae Doyle, 87, of Benton, formerly of Herrin, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at her residence in Benton.
Edna retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company, where she was a telephone operator for 30 years.
Edna loved reading her bible and prayer books. She was also known for her cakes as she was a great baker and loved to knit afghans in her spare time.
Edna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton, former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and formerly was a member of the Herrin Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
Edna was born July 13, 1932 in Glen Ellyn, IL to Harold Joseph and Eva Mae (Kelley) Westwood.
Edna was united in marriage with Roy Jack Doyle on September 30, 1950 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wheaton, IL. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2011.
Surviving are her children, Jim (Cheri) Doyle of Indianapolis, IN, Jeff Doyle of Venice, FL and Jackie (Mike) Bartoni of Benton; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Judy Sullivan; parents and her sister, Catherine J. Vogel.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton, IL with Fr. Urban Osuji, C.M. officiating. Inurnment will be in San Carlo Catholic Cemetery in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested and may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 506 West Main Street, Benton, IL 62812.
