Obituary for Phyllis Lee (Herrin) Granneman

Phyllis Lee (Herrin) Granneman, 91 of Herrin, passed away 1:29 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin.

Phyllis was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Herrin since March 24, 1940 and ordained a Deacon of the Church in 2001. She served as a deacon from 2001-2004 and 2007-2009.

Phyllis was honored to be elected Homecoming Queen for Herrin High School in 1946 and formerly worked as a clerk for Park Avenue Mode in Herrin. She is one of the last of the Herrin family who founded Herrin

Phyllis was born April 6, 1928 in Herrin, Illinois to Lee Levis and Isabell (McNeill) Herrin.

Surviving are her daughter, Jami L. Granneman of Herrin; several cousins including, Jane (Steve) Stanley of Herrin, Kerry (Lynne) Koen of Boca Raton, FL, Connie (Glenn) Garrison of Pasadena, CA, Sandra Herrin of Herrin, IL, Snyder & Ivy Herrin of OK; two nieces, Barbara Spencer and Judy Wojick and several close friends, Marilyn (Berra) Phillips, Debbie Motsinger, Johnny (Jennie) Reames, Shelby and Rachel Reames, Cookie (Carl) Goodwin, Sallie (Brian) Surprenant, Trisha Miller, Pat Sowman.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Shawnee Alliance care-givers for the excellent care and concern provided to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Marshall Herrin.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home with Rev. Michael S. Neubert officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday at funeral home. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested and may be made to The First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 421 North 14th Street, Herrin, IL 62948; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
